Minimum Software Version Requirements for EMV
Here are the minimum
software versions required to install an EMV card reader. This is just to get
the machine to recognize the card reader, like, the actual piece of hardware
you’re installing:
Hyosung SE: v06.01.05
(current version is v06.01.18)
Hyosung CE: v01.04.14
(current version is v01.04.25)
GenMega: v05.00.12
(current version is v05.00.21)
GenMega/Hantle all have that same software version. There
are a few very important things to think about when performing these software
updates.
SE
(update vs. bootloader): If the software version the machine is currently
running is below v06.01.07, customer will need to do a full bootloader with an
SD 2GB or less. This will require reprogramming the machine and re-entering
keys. A full bootloader on an SE machine will bring the machine up to the
current software version. If the software is above that version, the customer
can just run an update with a USB and that will not require reprogramming or
anything.
CE (update vs. bootloader): If the
software version the machine is currently running is below v01.04.07, the
customer will need to perform a bootloader with an SD card 2GB or less. On CE
machines, the bootloader will only bring the machine up to v01.04.07. From
there to get a machine to the latest software version, the customer must do an
update with a USB after using the SD/bootloader to bring it up to v01.04.07.
These are all super-important:
VERIFY MAIN BOARD TYPE: ACU3/5 or ACU 6. Trying to load the wrong software on a
main board can break it to the point where you’d have to send it in for repair
VERIFY SOFTWARE VERSION CURRENTLY RUNNING: If software version is below
05.xx.xx (for example, running a 03.xx.xx) must do a full install, just trying
an update can break the main board. Full install will clear out programming,
update won’t.
CLEAR NVRAM/JOURNAL BEFORE FULL INSTALL: Manufacturer recommends clearing NVRAM
and Journal before performing full install.
